Drivers are shelling out more to fill up their cars this month as gas prices across the state are soaring far above the average for February.
The statewide average gas price rose to $1.67 this week, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Index.
The index, which surveys 300 gas stations across the state, also reported the average price per gallon for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline last February was $1.21.
"The prices keep going up," AAA spokesman Jim Rink said. "The bottom line is, we do not know if they will stop."
