The bottom line is this - sex sells. The Dollar Nightclub and "Girls Gone Wild" were just supplying what is demanded with last night's event, especially near a college campus - sex.
And everybody deserves to make a buck. Or get a free tank top, that is, if you're one of the "stars."
So if you have a problem with controversial events such as the filming of a "Girls Gone Wild" segment, ignore it. If you weren't there, it can't hurt you.
And if you were there, and were offended by it, then why in Ron Jeremy's name did you go?
If you go to Sea World and do not want to get soaked, you'd probably avoid sitting in the front row for the Shamu show, right? All types of entertainment, whether it be girls flashing or whales splashing, entertain somebody, if not you.
Any nonwild girl who walked into the Dollar last night for the low price of $5, while their underage male counterparts paid three times that amount, and expected not to be badgered into lifting their shirt, wasn't ignorant; they were stupid.
You can't claim ignorance for wandering into such an obvious scenario.
Hopefully, no one showed up last night expecting a free tank top or T-shirt because they paid to get in.
You don't get beads on Bourbon Street because you want them - give and ye shall receive, they say.
Though some girls didn't trek out to the "Dirty" Dollar in hopes of appearing on thousands of TV screens for months to come; some went to appear on the nightly news - the protesters.
Sure, they had more than a right to be there.
So cheers to the protesters for standing up for what they believe in, but now back to the wild ones.
Some people are asking, "Why, why are the 'Girls Gone Wild' troops coming here?"
Why not? MSU always has emitted a party aura - this was just another event that will keep us on the radar.
"Girls Gone Wild" videos don't display women in a negative way, they just display women who want to display themselves.
There's a time and place for everything, and it's called college, people.
This is the one time in our lives that we can go wild.
You can get a little tipsy, expose yourself and 20 years down the line respond with: "Well, I was young and wild then."
While in college, you have that golden excuse for four years to be "wild."
We're not talking about rioting - been there, done that - we're talking about college kids just having fun.
Hopefully, everyone had exactly what this kind of entertainment is aimed at creating - a good time.
So if you feel ashamed about turning yourself into a minor celebrity last night, don't be.
Let's just hope that daddy or your boyfriend back home aren't subscribers.
But if they are, at least you got that cool tank top and enjoyed your 15 (pre-edited) minutes of fame.
