Anisko, Laskowski claim Big Ten Diving Honors

Two Spartan divers garnered conference awards this week.

Senior Stephanie Anisko and sophomore Justin Laskowski were selected as the Big Ten Conference Divers of the Week on Tuesday.

The two combined for six first-place diving finishes as the MSU men defeated Northwestern and Ball State, and the women's team split, besting the Cardinals and falling to the Wildcats.

Anisko, a co-captain for the Spartans, won every diving event she competed in this weekend. This is her second straight honor, as she received the award in the final selection before the holiday recess.

Laskowski earned the award after claiming two first-place finishes. This is his first time being honored, however this is the second-consecutive week a Spartan diver has received the award, as senior Nick Visscher won the award prior to break.

MSU returns to action at 5 p.m. Friday when they travel to Columbus, Ohio, to face Big Ten foe Ohio State.

Men's tennis team to host annual clinic for kids

People of all ages will have the chance to meet and learn from members of the MSU men's tennis team.

The team is hosting a tennis clinic with the Lansing Police Athletic League on Monday at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility on Mt. Hope Road.

The event gives kids a chance to play tennis and receive instruction from players on this year's Spartan team.

The event, which is in its eighth year, will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

The team opens up the season Saturday with two home matches at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility.

The Spartans square off against Butler at 10 a.m. followed by a matchup with Wright State at 4 p.m.
