The Lansing Community College Board of Trustees appointed a new member Friday to replace former Trustee C. David Patterson.
Marylou Olivarez, who serves as executive director of the Michigan Commission on Spanish Speaking Affairs, was selected on a 4-2 vote to serve through June 30.
"The community college, which is true to its mission, is inclusive - not exclusive - and opens its doors to all members of the community and supports their lifelong learning goals," Olivarez wrote in her application to be a trustee.
Mason will be sworn in at a special meeting at 5 p.m. Feb. 4 in the Herrmann Conference Center.
