Events

• Into the Streets presents its annual community service event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 5. Participants will go into the Lansing area to assist local nonprofit organizations. Registration begins at 9 a.m. in N-130 Business College Complex. For more information, contact Into the Streets at streets@msu.edu.

• The MSU Society for Human Resource Management will be hosting its annual fall conference at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 4. The conference, “Human Resources in Times of Change,” will feature human resource speakers from Boeing, Consumers Energy, The Home Depot and others. • The Faculty Folk Club of MSU will host its Annual Evening Get-Together from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 4 at the University Club, 3435 Forest Road in Lansing. • The Alliance of Lesbian-Bi-Gay-Transgendered and Straight Ally Students will host the “Fruitbowl,” a friendly game of football, at noon Oct. 5 at Walter Adams Memorial Field.

• The Alliance of Lesbian-Bi-Gay-Transgendered and Straight Ally Students will hold a vigil commemorating victims of anti-LBGT hate crimes at 8 p.m. Oct. 6 at the rock on Farm Lane.

• The Alliance of Lesbian-Bi-Gay-Transgendered and Straight Ally Students will hold a campuswide all-day Stand Out on Oct. 7 to educate people on the offensive nature of hateful words and the resulting violence. For more information, call the alliance at (517)353-9795.

• Students for Life presents the Pro-Life Youth Rally from 2-4 p.m. Oct. 5 at the rock on Farm Lane. Local bands to play at the rally include the Van Ermans, Hyperbole and guitarist Scott Barnes. Pro-life candidates speaking at the rally include Congressman Mike Rogers, R-Brighton, state Rep. Andrew Raczkowski, R-Farmington Hills, Rep. Paul DeWeese, R-Williamston, and Larry Ward. • The third annual Great Lakes Entrepreneur’s Quest competition kicks off at 6 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Kellogg Center. The six-month program for technology entrepreneurs allows them to refine their business ideas and compete for $175,000 in prizes. Lectures

• The Preprofessional Society for Health Careers will present “It’s Show Time - Mastering the Art of Being Interviewed,” at 7:30 p.m. today in the Northwestern Room of the Union. John Molidor, assistant dean of the MSU College of Human Medicine in Flint, will lecture about interviewing techniques to prepare students for professional school interviews.

• The Alliance of Lesbian-Bi-Gay-Transgendered Straight and Ally Students presents “True Diversity,” a lecture and discussion by famed artist, poet and educator Magdalen Hsu-Li at 7 p.m. Oct. 8 in the Union parlors. For more information, call the alliance at (517)353-9795.

Organization Meetings

• Campus Crusade for Christ will hold its “Prime Time” meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in N-100 Business College Complex. Meetings are held every Thursday.

• The Adventist Student Fellowship will hold a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Friday at University Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 504 Ann St. There will be dinners on Friday evenings, including vegetarian menus.
