Police briefs 10/10/02

A 47-year-old MSU employee reported ammunition from a BB gun damaged a Spartan Village second-floor balcony Tuesday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.Between 6 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday the gun was fired at a target on a wall next to the stairwell and balcony, McGlothian-Taylor said.The gun was found and confiscated from a Spartan Village resident because it is illegal to possess one on campus, McGlothian-Taylor said.• Backed up traffic at a Farm Lane railroad crossing led to a four-car accident about 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, McGlothian-Taylor said.Traffic was backed up because of a train crossing Farm Lane north of Service Road and a traffic detour around the Harrison Avenue crossing, McGlothian-Taylor said. A 23-year-old Oak Park woman rear-ended an 18-year-old Lake Odessa woman stopped at the crossing. Two other cars, driven by a a 68-year-old Okemos man, followed in a chain reaction, police said.The 18-year-old woman was transported to Lansing’s Sparrow Hospital, McGlothian-Taylor said. Her injuries are not known.
