To kick off the start of the 2002-03 basketball season, the MSU men’s and women’s teams will host Midnight Madness on Oct. 11 at Breslin Center.

Men’s and women’s basketball players and coaches will be on hand to greet fans and sign autographs. The theme for the annual event will be “Let The Music Play.”

Fans can look forward to promotional giveaways, and performances by the Spartan Brass, MSU cheerleaders, MSU Motion and Sparty.

Before midnight, the teams will be introduced and will play a scrimmage after midnight, marking the opening of preseason practice.

“I love the event because it’s a tremendous way to showcase the basketball programs here and it’s a wonderful way to get people out supporting the teams. I’m excited to get the basketball season started,” women’s coach Joanne P. McCallie said in a released statement.

Doors open at 10:30 p.m. and admission is free.
