Standing arm in arm, Jennifer Won and Ben Yu waited for Saturday nights formal dinner to begin.
The couple stood in the halls of the Kellogg Center before dinner - the last event of the annual Asian Pacific American Student Organization weekend conference.
The tables were covered in white linen cloths and candles softly lit the room.
All day Saturday, the organization conducted workshops on Asian Pacific Americans in the job market, media, sexuality, activism and other issues.
Won, a merchandising management senior, wasnt able to attend the workshops earlier in the day, but dressed up to attend the dinner with her boyfriend.
Won said she was glad the conference was able to touch on Asian Pacific-American sexuality issues.
They rarely discuss those issues, she said. Its interesting.
Her date, Yu, attended all the workshops earlier that day and said they were enjoyable.
It was informative, the electrical engineering senior said. There were lots of topics you could choose from.
The special guest speakers at the conference were Eric Nakamura and Martin Wong, the founders of Giant Robot, an independent Asian pop-culture magazine.
Yu said he appreciated what the guest speakers said.
They sound like two intelligent guys, he said. They really knew what they were doing.
Yu said he was going to read the two copies of the magazine he had at home.
I cant wait to take a look at it, he said.
The conference began Friday with a rally and was followed by a Basement Bhangra on Friday night.
The cultural Indian dance from Punjab, India, was taught by special guest Sarina Jain.
It was pretty cool, the electrical engineering and telecommunications senior said. It was also a workout.
