The bill proposed to ASMSU to lobby MSU leaders to get the school off of party lists is a big mistake.
Undergraduate student government officials seem to think being on Playboy magazines Top 25 Party Schools will deter prospective students from coming to MSU. Yeah right.
The statistic would only push more high school graduates to see why we are on that list. College is supposed to be fun, why would anyone turn away a Big Ten school such as MSU known to throw cool parties?
We have a reputation for outstanding academics, a beautiful campus and friendly students. That we are a party school will make people see we succeed at one of lifes most important lessons: time management.
Balancing studying and partying is the greatest skill that most MSU students have acquired. We have a wide variety of places to study at, and there are always people willing to study with you.
On the flipside, any night of the week you want to go to a party, you will find one.
Incoming freshmen want to go to schools with great academic programs for their majors that also offer fun activities on the weekends, or every night, in our case.
Taking MSUs name off of party lists would be equivalent to lying to the public.
We do take pride in our academic lives, but we are a party school, too. We should be proud of it.
