There are 600 tickets available for the game against Rice 1:05 p.m. Saturday at Spartan Stadium. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. today at Jenison Field House ticket office.

Missing in action

Freshman wide receiver Matt Trannon did not play in the season opener because he was not cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse. He is expected to play against Rice on Saturday.

Talk about efficiency

Sophomore quarterback Damon Dowdell only attempted one pass in Saturday’s 56-7 massacre of Eastern Michigan, but he made it count.

He finished one-of-one with a touchdown - a 24-yard strike to senior wide receiver BJ Lovett. His quarterback rating is an eye-popping 631.6.

Injuries

Senior cornerback Cedric Henry (groin pull) and freshman wide receiver Agim Shabaj (knee) are day-to-day. Junior tight end Matt Walters (sprained ankle) is probable.

Freshman safety Eric Smith (sprained knee) is out four-to-six weeks.

Freshman linebacker Seth Mitchell (knee inflammation), junior guard Joe Patrick (lower back), junior tailback Tyrell Dortch (broken lower leg) and freshman linebacker Steve Kielp (bruised shoulder) are out indefinitely.
