Men’s cross country ranked No. 14 in preseason poll

Last season, the Spartans finished 18th at the NCAA Championship and return five runners who received All-Great Lakes Regional Team honors.

Sophomore Chris Toloff, senior Andrew Alley and juniors Andrew Marsh and Jason Mueller look to lead the Spartans. Toloff was MSU’s top finisher in the five meets last year.

Former Spartan quarterback cut

The Seattle Seahawks released former MSU quarterback Ryan Van Dyke and four other players Monday. Van Dyke had signed a free-agent contract with the Seahawks after going undrafted in the April draft.

In his senior season at MSU, Van Dyke passed for 569 yards while completing 37-of-67 passes. He threw four touchdowns and one interception.

He finished his MSU career by completing 161-of-288 passes and 2,111 passing yards, while throwing for 14 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
