Womens golf signs three recruits

The women’s golf team signed three recruits over the weekend.

The new players include Dayna Burleigh of Horsham, Penn., Rachel Meikle of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Samantha Braschler of Red Wing, Minn.

“I think all three are going to bring a lot of excitement, and definitely a lot of depth to the team,” Spartan head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll said in a statement.

The recruiting class is highlighted by Burleigh, who was ranked the 42nd best women’s golfer in the nation by the GolfWeek/Sagarin Performance Index.

Burleigh has compiled 10 top 10 finishes in the junior competitions and recently finished fourth at the 19th annual Scott Robertson Memorial Tournament after shooting a 221 (72-74-75).

Slobodnik-Stoll said she believes Burleigh’s success at the high-school level will carry over to the collegiate ranks. She also said she doesn’t believe Meikle and Braschler know how good they can become yet.
