The MSU mens and womens soccer teams signed seven new recruits.
The womens team signed four Tuesday. Portage Northerns Emma Harris, West Bloomfields Erin Konheim and Troy Athens Linsey Laskowski and Nina Mastracci will be the new faces this fall.
Harris, a forward, was a first team all-state honoree and led Northern in goals and assists for four straight years. Konheim, a midfielder, was named Most Valuable Player at the 2001 Michigan State Cup. Laskowski, another midfielder, was voted a first team all-state honoree. Mastracci, a defender, was a two-time first team all-state honoree.
This is the best recruiting class ever, womens head coach Tom Saxton said.
The mens team, which made its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 33 years, signed three recruits.
Greg Doster, a defenseman from New Lenox, Ill., joins his bother Steve, a midfielder who transferred from Indiana.
Michael Zaegel is a defenseman from Christian Brothers College High in St. Louis. He was Defensive Player of the Year in Missouri.
John Kaczmarek, a midfielder from Canton High in Plymouth, finished third in voting for Michigans Mr. Soccer award in 2001.
We kept this years class real small, because we feel these kids have the potential to help build a program, mens head coach Joe Baum said.
