I was truly impressed by watching our men’s Spartan basketball team play against and score a win over Illinois on Sunday. Even though our team has not had as successful a season as in prior years, this game, in particular, had a number of firsts we can be proud of:

• We beat Illinois on its home court.

• We broke Illinois’ home-court-winning streak of 28 games.

• We won a game on the road.

• We beat a team that was higher ranked than us.

• We beat Illinois with a team heavy with freshmen.

• We showed we can come together as a team and play winning ball with and without some of our leading scorers.

MSU’s men’s basketball team is to be complimented and praised for its outstanding performance.
