There are some musicians who are easier to connect with than others - artists who actually have something to say instead of blurting out lame clichés.

Kasey Chambers manages to sing directly to her listeners. Her album “Barricades & Brickwalls” is an honest portrayal of what’s going on in her head, not passive or heartless songs without meaning.

Her vocal delivery embraces the listener in such a relaxed and friendly manner that it’s impossible to not feel close to her during every story she offers.

“On a Bad Day” a is pop-infused country ballad, complete with the theme of heartbreak, while the title track and “Runaway Train” label her as a talented blues guitarist.

She has her moments of true toe-tapping country, such as on the lighthearted and remorseful confessional “Still Feeling Blue” and the classic-rock-painted “Crossfire.”

Her guitar licks, combined with her sexy voice, are reason enough to let her express her emotions.
