Despite opinion claims, the Residence Halls Association could not take that claimed step back by scrapping StateWalk at its last meeting (A step backward, SN 1/24).
As key interpreters of the RHA constitution, only the policy committee can initiate a removal of StateWalk, so reading that StateWalk was on the chopping block was quite the surprise to me.
Yes, in the end we bring such bills before the assembly for vote, but whatever you reported on us doing, which merited getting disapproving opinions published, is not the truth.
I can tell you that we intend to present the removal of said program, StateWalk, from our constitution. By no means does this allude to its destruction. At the next RHA meeting, our intent is to give control of it back to its founding fraternity and aid them with select resources. StateWalk will still operate out of the Main Library office for those who want to use it, but RHA will no longer be footing the bill.
Again, StateWalk is not being scrapped, just under new management.
