Charity hockey raises money for New York

The Michigan State Police and the Ontario Provincial Police took center stage Saturday at Munn Ice Arena.

A crowd of more than 200, composed of mostly family, friends and fellow officers, came to watch the game. The two squads teamed up to raise almost $2,500 in door donations. Along with outside contributions, the event raised nearly $4,000 for New York area charities.

“Regardless of the size of the check, people in New York will know they have not been forgotten,” Michigan State Police Sgt. Terry Young said.
