Maize and blue blends into green as crew cleans up damage caused by U-M vandals

We just wanted to take a second to express our disappointment in our Wolverine neighbors to the southeast.

It’s seems our friends are having trouble accepting the fact that their poor excuse for a basketball team may lose its eighth straight meeting with the Spartans tonight at Breslin Center. MSU has won the past seven meetings with U-M by an average of 20.4 points per game.

Monday night, their fears got the better of them as a group of Wolverine hinchmen attacked Sparty as he stood guard at the intersection of Kalamazoo Street and Red Cedar Road.

Sparty, believed to be the world’s largest free-standing ceramic statue, was sprayed with about nine cans of maize and blue paint. It is believed to be the worst attack on our beloved mascot ever.

An MSU grounds crew and Physical Plant employees spent the better part of Tuesday cleaning the defaced statue.

As the blue and yellow filth melted away, it mixed to cover the cement below Sparty into a glorious and triumphant green - proving once again, victory for MSU.

Nice try Wolverines. When will you learn from your expensive educations that green always prevails in the end?
