The State News should seriously think about eliminating its lame, tasteless and ill-informed editorial cartoonist. The latest cartoon that flunks the smell test shows an American guard beating terrorist prisoners in Cuba (SN 1/28).
The American Red Cross reviewed the situation on that base and said the conditions are quite acceptable and humane. There are no beatings, but the security is tight. Let us not forget that it is these unarmed prisoners who killed CIA agent Mike Spann in a different prison riot and that these prisoners have continued to resist their jailers.
If The State News does keep cartoonist Nate Allen, please see that he spends some time reading real newspapers so he can at least get his facts straight.
