Police briefs 11/30/01

A Brody Complex cafeteria employee threw a butter knife at another employee Tuesday, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. A manager reported the employees had not gotten along all semester, and an argument led to the assault. Nobody was injured. The case was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.• An 18-year-old female student has been receiving nuisance telephone calls in her Rather Hall dorm room since Nov. 13, McGlothian-Taylor said. The caller does not speak. The student usually hangs up soon after. The case was referred to the telephone company.• A backpack and its contents, valued at $358, were taken from the Main Library, McGlothian-Taylor said. A 23-year-old male student left the backpack, which contained cash, books and a calculator, unattended. Police have no suspects.• A 20-year-old female student has been receiving harassing telephone calls in her Case Hall room since August, McGlothian-Taylor said. The caller breathes into the phone. The student received about 10 calls. Police have no suspects.
