Injuries give walk-ons playing roles

Senior defensive tackle Josh Shaw injured his right knee in the first quarter against Michigan on Saturday. He is the fourth defender to be injured in the past month on MSU’s team, and head coach Bobby Williams has turned to come walk-on players to fill the void —

At least 10 MSU players have been sidelined at one time or another this season, resulting in a frustrated coaching staff scrambling for healthy contributors.

And after a devastating knee injury to senior defensive tackle Josh Shaw on Saturday, head coach Bobby Williams is digging even deeper into his roster.

“We’re running out of bodies,” Williams said.

“I don’t know if you have noticed our roster, but we have several walk-ons that are playing for us
