After finishing fifth at its first tournament, the Spartan womens golf team jumped to No. 7 up in the Sagarin Golfweek.com rankings.
Fellow Big Ten team Ohio State is No.1 in the poll, and Vanderbilt, Auburn, Texas and Tulsa round out the top five.
MSU is 19-4-0 on the season.
Two Spartans, senior Emily Bastel (11th) and sophomore Allison Fouch (13th) cracked the Golfweek.coms top 15 individual rankings. MSU senior Stacy Snider broke the top-50 at 48th.
The Spartans opened the season ranked No. 11 in the preseason poll, but Wednesdays fifth-place finish at the NCAA Fall Preview bumped them up. The tournament was called after 36 holes due to standing water on the greens.
The team next competes in the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate on Oct. 12-14 in Knoxville, Tenn.
