Robinson earns Big Ten respect

When No. 15 Ohio State came to East Lansing on Sunday to take on the MSU men’s soccer team. the Spartans were primarily concerned with getting a win.

But the 3-0 victory accomplished more than just another win - it drew the Big Ten’s eyes to sophomore goalkeeper Mike Robinson, who was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

His seven-save performance in the Ohio State game certainly qualified Robinson as a candidate for the honor. But he also gives confidence to the offense, making its job easier, junior forward Brett Konley said.

“It’s huge because when you get that one or two goals, and they don’t score on us then there’s a lot of pressure taken off,” Konley said. “When he shuts out teams and when we get our job done
