The White team defeated the Green team 59-46, as the MSU womens basketball team opened its season with the annual Green and White intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday at Breslin Student Events Center.
The game had four 10-minute quarters with a running clock and the players switched teams every quarter.
The two teams combined for a 41.1 shooting percent from the floor and .417 from three-point range. They also combined for 33 turnovers, but 16 came from steals.
Junior guard Vnemina Reese hit 15 points, and was one of seven players to reach double digits. Freshman guard Cortne Ellis had 14 points, including four treys, freshman center Kelli Roehrig had 13 points and a shared team-high honors of 11 rebounds.
Junior forward Syreeta Bromfield, sophomore guard Candice Jackson and freshman guard Kristin Haynie each scored 12 points. Freshman Joy Johnson scored 11 and grabbed 11 boards.
The Spartans first exhibition game is against the Premier All-Stars at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4 at Breslin Center.
