I can honestly say that when I heard that there was a dead body pulled out of the Red Cedar river this week, I didnt pay too much h attention to it. Then I started to think back to all of my years since Ive been at MSU.
Maybe its just me, but for some mysterious reason, there seems to be a death on the campus of MSU each year. Last year, there was the occurrence outside Ricks American Café where a student was beaten to death. The year before that, there was a dead body found in the basement of Wonders Hall. In 1998, there was another student missing who was found dead in the Red Cedar River. The year prior to that, I heard a person was killed trying to jump onto a moving train on the railroad tracks behind South Complex.
Even before I arrived at MSU in 1997, I was informed of a few students who had committed suicide on the railroad tracks the previous year. To me, this is an eerie feeling. I sometimes think that MSU was built on an ancient burial ground. I am just fortunate enough that I am graduating in the summer and the curse never got to my friends or myself.
