The MSU women’s rowing team will take on 117 teams including U-M, Penn State and Ohio State at the Head of the Ohio on Saturday in Pittsburgh.

The Spartans finished strong in their last appearance Sept. 22 at the Head of the Cuyahoga in Cleveland. MSU’s two varsity boats took first and second place at the event.

The Head of the Ohio promises some stiffer competition three top 10 teams from of the 2001 NCAA Championships.

The race begins at 8 a.m. Teams will compete in a 2.8-mile course on the Alleghany River, and at noon the teams will race in a 500-meter sprint race.
