Police briefs 08/02/01

An MSU Federal Credit Union employee reported two suspects for using counterfeit checks, MSU police Lt. Kelly Beck said.Two males, a 23-year-old and 21-year-old, both nonstudents, cashed fake payroll checks on July 9 and 10. The checks amounted to $12,000. Police are investigating.

  • A 19-year-old female nonstudent cashed checks at the credit union with no account, Beck said. On July 19 and 20, checks cashed came back as having no account. The checks amounted to $2,800. Police are investigating.
  • A vehicle was broken into between 5:50 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Friday in Lot 67, near Jenison Field House. A 55-year-old visitor parked her car and possibly left her doors unlocked, Beck said. Credit cards and $100 cash were missing from the vehicle. There are no suspects.
  • A 17-year-old female visitor for a journalism camp reported an unwanted entry in Holden Hall, Beck said. The suspect entered her room while she was in her underwear between 1:20 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Monday. The suspect asked if her garbage needed to be removed, flirted with her and then removed the garbage.No charges will be filed.
