Police briefs 07/30/01

A 20-year-old female visitor from Ferris State University reported her vehicle scratched Friday.The visitor had parked her car at 9 a.m. in Lot 77, near the Department of Police and Public Safety Building. When she returned at 1 p.m., the car’s door, hood and driver’s front panel had been scratched with a sharp metal object, MSU police Sgt. Scott Beckner said.Damage is estimated at $100 and police have no suspects.

  • An unknown subject set off explosives at the new Shaw Hall parking ramp Friday.At 8:30 a.m., the subject cut a PVC pipe and placed an unknown substance in it, Beckner said. The substance was lit on fire, causing the pipe to shoot 60 to 70 feet in the air.There were no reported injuries.
