Police briefs 07/11/01

Sometime between 11 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. Monday, an unknown subject discharged a fire extinguisher in Morrill Hall’s second floor.The discharge left a dry-chemical residue on cabinets, walls and the floor, which a Physical Plant employee discovered Monday morning and reported to police.Damages were reported at $300 for cleanup and the cost of recharging the extinguisher, MSU police Detective Tony Willis said.The subject is unknown.

  • A 39-year-old male visitor reported his cell phone stolen from his car between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday. The visitor had his car parked in Lot 89, the commuter lot, where he was setting up a booth for the Ag Expo.The windows were left rolled down, and when he returned to his car after an hour, he noticed the cell phone was missing, Willis said.The phone is valued at $300 and the thief is unknown.
  • A money bag was stolen sometime between June 25 and Friday from the MSU sports information office on the fourth floor of Olds Hall. A 44-year-old female employee of the office discovered the bag was missing from an unlocked cabinet.The bag contained approximately $100, Willis said.The thief is unknown.
