In regards to last weeks State News editorial (Blind decision, SN 6/4) I would be interested in hearing the voices of the 30 students currently enrolled in this program, as well as the voices of visually impaired students at MSU concerning this issue.
My doctoral research is focused on the visually impaired student at MSU. Preliminary data collection has revealed several emerging themes surrounding mobility issues and classroom accommodations. Although monetary issues (on the surface) may be driving this review of the program, could there be underlying apathy toward the students with disabilities?
