Morricone RMX

In this tribute to movie composer Ennio Morricone, artists from around the electronic music genre have remixed Morricone’s scores and the result is an interesting mix of Morricone’s classic 1960s music, and the newer, techno-inspired remixes found on “Morricone RMX.”

Morricone has recently worked on film scores like “Mission to Mars” and “Bulworth,” although neither of these films are featured on the CD. Most of the remixed movie music is from older, foreign films of the 1960s. The majority of “Morricone RMX” is a nice blend of unpredictable electronic music and Morricone’s trite film scores.

“For a Few Dollars More,” the second song on the album, is one of the best elements of this CD. Terranova, who has produced house music in the past, does a great job remixing “For a Few Dollars More,” originally heard in the Clint Eastwood film (and spaghetti western) by the same name. Terranova is capable of bringing together elements that add a new dimension to Morricone’s music.

Track No. 4, remixed by Fantastic Plastic Machine, takes music from the 1968 film “L’Alibi (The Alibi)” and puts a new spin on it during the course of nearly seven minutes. However, the sound is disappointing - with annoying beats that fail to impress.

While the CD isn’t for everyone, those with even a small interest in electronic music would enjoy “Morricone RMX.”
