Police briefs 05/17/01

A 52-year-old woman visiting the Kellogg Center for a wedding reception Saturday reported her cell phone stolen, police said.Police believe the phone was taken between 3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. from the woman’s purse, which she carried into the reception.The phone is valued at $150 and police have no suspects.

  • A 25-year-old male student stole two textbooks from the department he worked at in Wells Hall, MSU police Sgt. Jennifer Brown said.The student then reportedly took them to a local bookstore to sell. Both books are valued at $34. The suspect has not yet been interviewed.
  • Police responded to a university ordinance violation late Tuesday evening when two female students in Owen Graduate Hall reported a 62-year-old male visiting professor had harassed them.An officer contacted the professor and issued a warning. Neither student wished to press charges.
  • A 21-year-old male student reported his bicycle stolen from the north side of Brody Hall between May 3-9. Police have no suspects. The bike is valued at $100.
