Police briefs 04/25/01

Police are looking for an unknown man who robbed the Auto Body Credit Union, 111 S. Waverly Road in Lansing, at 11:40 a.m. Tuesday.Lansing Township police were still collecting information from witnesses Tuesday afternoon to assemble a description of the man.The man approached a teller and demanded money before fleeing in an unknown direction, police said. An undetermined amount of money was turned over to the man.No one was injured during the robbery, and the incident remains under investigation.Anyone with information about the robbery should contact Lansing Township police at 485-1700 or the FBI at 336-8367.

  • A 21-year-old student working as an MSU parking enforcer reported he was assaulted by a 19-year-old male student at the university’s impound lot.The parking enforcer told police the student spit in his face because he was upset his car had been impounded, MSU police Detective Tony Willis said.The student told police he was upset because he felt his car was unfairly targeted because of the large number of tickets he’s received, Willis said. He also said he hadn’t intentionally spit in the parking enforcer’s face, but blames the strong wind for directing his spit.The case has been forwarded to the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
  • A 29-year-old male student reported his car broken into while parked at his University Village apartment.The student told police he left the car doors unlocked between 3 p.m. Sunday and 6 p.m. Monday, Willis said. A case of 40 CDs was stolen, but the car was not damaged.Losses are valued at $615. Police have no suspects.
  • A 21-year-old male student reported his 1993 Chevrolet Lumina damaged while parked on West Circle Drive in front of Yakeley Hall.The student told police he discovered pry marks on the passenger door, but no entry was gained to the vehicle, Willis said. The car was parked on the street from 6 p.m. to midnight Sunday.The student estimated damage at $1,000. Police have no suspects.
  • A 21-year-old student reported 20 DVDs stolen from his Wilson Hall room.The student told police he left his room unlocked, but closed the door for a period of time around 9 p.m. Sunday, Willis said.Losses are valued at $240. Police have no suspects.
  • A 19-year-old male student reported his car broken into while parked in Ramp 4 at the Kellogg Center.A CD player and case of 20 CDs was taken from the vehicle while parked in the ramp from Friday to Tuesday, Willis said. Entry had been gained by smashing the driver’s side window.Losses are valued at $700, and damages are estimated at $100. Police have no suspects.
