Police briefs 04/23/01

An police van parked at the Department of Police and Public Safety building was discovered damaged at 3 a.m. Sunday.Someone had broken the rear driver’s side window, MSU police Sgt. Maureen Ramsey said. A tire also went flat when the van was driven into the garage, she said.Destruction of police property is a felony. Damage is estimated at $400. Police have no suspects, but an investigation is pending.

  • A 25-year-old South Haven man reported his car stolen from the 1400 block of Spartan Village.The dark green 1995 Mazda with Michigan license plates was taken between 10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday, Ramsey said.The man told police he has the only keys, no one has permission to have the car and he doesn’t believe it was repossessed, Ramsey said. He also said the car was left locked.The car is valued at $6,000. Police have no suspects, but an investigation is pending.
  • The window of a door on the east side of West Akers Hall was broken between 11:50 p.m. Thursday and 12:05 a.m. Friday, Ramsey said.Damage is estimated at $200. Police have no suspects.
