Religious beliefs should be shared

I would like to address some of the comments that were raised in “Religion should stay within house of worship” (SN 3/15), as one of the college students who went down to Panama City, Fla., to share my faith about Christ.

I did not go down to Panama City in an attempt to force my religious doctrine on anyone, or to convert as many people as possible to Christianity. We went down there because Christ has changed our lives, and we’d like to give others a chance to experience this also.

Take this analogy, for example: If a friend of yours went to the best dance club in the world and had the best night of his or her life, then naturally, you would want to hear more about that dance club. You would want to know what made the night so much fun, and how to get there so you could have the same great time.

Since I have put my faith in Christ, the joy I have experienced far surpasses any time that I had experienced in a dance club. I wish to share with others how He has made my life so much better.

I understand not everyone wants to hear about Christianity. Still, I don’t feel that I could selfishly keep the joy I have found in Christ to myself. Before college, I was merely a guy who attended church every once in awhile. Through someone sharing his faith, I learned Christianity has a lot more to it than just going to church on Sunday mornings.

I would encourage people to find someone you know who has a strong faith in Christ and ask them why they believe in Him. God is not just for those who are very religious. He is for everyone and He would love to bring peace, love and joy into our lives. I would enjoy conversing with anyone about the changes God has brought into my life.
