Many programs arent covered

I thank The State News editors for their emphasis on men’s basketball coverage. The hockey program has been given its share of coverage because of Ryan Miller’s achievement (“Frozen Four is as important as Final Four,” SN 3/27).

There are plenty of programs that barely get any coverage at all. Gymnastics, wrestling and swimming rarely make front page news, though they are competing in tournaments.

The basketball team is one of the highest-grossing sports on campus, and more people are interested in it. The MSU basketball team also has had to win four games to get into the Final Four, whereas the hockey team only had to win one.

Don’t criticize the editors for giving the people what they want. Ideally, every sport would be on the front page, but this isn’t an ideal world, and the editors of The State News made the right choice.
