Congratulations to the greedy officials at the Capital Area Transportation Authority. CATA is now proposing raising its one-way fare for students from 25 cents to 50 cents. Everyone knows students will still use the bus regardless of the cost, especially with the campus parking situation only getting worse.
Up until now, CATA has been fair in its pricing for college students (with very little or no income). But now a 100 percent increase - if the proposal passes - and CATA officials admit it probably will. Isnt it great businesses can exploit students? First bookstores, now the only bus service on campus - theres nothing like a good old-fashioned monopoly.
Kudos CATA, for making students - your No. 1 customer - your No. 1 priority.
