The MSU womens golf team opened its spring season by finishing 16th out of 18 teams after Wednesdays final round of the TRW Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif., according to MSU Sports Information.
The competition was stiff for the Spartans, as the three-day tournament featured 15 teams ranked in the top 25.
MSU, which was ranked 25th by www.golfstat.com entering the tournament, finished with a final team score of 941 - 57 strokes behind tournament winner and No. 2 Arizona.
The top finisher for the Spartans was junior Stacy Snider, who placed 23rd by shooting 77-77-74 for a three-day score of 228.
Junior Emily Bastel tied for 33rd by posting scores of 72-79-79 for a final total of 230, while senior Kasey Gant tied for 51st by shooting 79-78-78 for a final score of 235.
The Spartans next action will be March 12-13 at the Peggy Kirk Bell Classic in Orlando, Fla.
