Rape accusation is very serious

Once again, The State News has attempted to make me feel horrible for being a male on a college campus. The article printed Feb. 19 (“Woman alleges rape in dorm, police say”) is just another case of a woman who was too drunk to recall the proceedings of the night in question.

I find it hilarious only one line was used to describe the situation: “She passed out from drinking alcohol.” Nothing was said of the relationship the woman and the alleged rapist had prior to this incident.

My guess is the woman, after guzzling two pints of Apple Pucker to wash away the horrible agony of her broken nail and bad tanning job, was completely obliterated to the point she would suck face with Hannibal Lecter, let alone any 18- to 24-year-old male MSU student.

I am sick and tired of these women not taking responsibility for their actions and playing the “rape” card much too soon and much too often. I ask the alleged victim, are you going to compare this incident with that of a woman working a late shift and walking to her car in an empty parking lot only to be brutally attacked and raped at gunpoint? Doubtful!

Now, if the accused actually performed this heinous act, then he is scum and should be locked up. However, if this is another case of “Hi, I’m totally trashed and I think you’re hot. Let’s go make out, hee hee,” then this woman needs to put whatever brain cells she has left to work before she places the blame solely on the “rapist.”

So, women of MSU, my point is this: Rape is one of the most deplorable acts that any person can commit, but if you want to avoid a situation like this, put that damn bottle down for a minute and have a little respect for yourself and your body.

And, by the way, I would like to “commend” The State News on interviewing the assistant professor of Women’s Studies from the Women’s Resource Center. Gee, I wonder if she has a jaded opinion about this issue? Next time, I hope you print more information about the individuals involved.
