Police briefs 02/27/01

Nine vehicles parked in Lot 39, at Shaw Lane and Red Cedar Road, and Lot 57, near the Urban Planning and Landscape Architecture Building, were found with smashed windows Sunday night.A campus police officer on patrol spotted the vehicles, MSU police Detective Tony Willis said. The interiors of the vehicles had been damaged and the stereos stolen from some.Police had not yet contacted all of the vehicles’ owners Monday. Damage estimates were not available. An investigation is underway.Police have no suspects.

  • An 18-year-old male student was cited Sunday for breaking a third-floor stairwell door window in Hubbard Hall.The student told police he had been wrestling with friends when he accidentally broke the window, Willis said. A residence hall worker noticed the student’s hand was bleeding and the window was broken. The student was also issued a minor in possession ticket. He declined medical treatment for his hand.
  • A 23-year-old male parking enforcement worker was assaulted by a 21-year-old male student upset about getting a parking ticket, Willis said.The student confronted the parking enforcer after his car was ticketed at 2 a.m. Monday in Lot 11 near the Main Library, Willis said. The student ripped up the ticket and threw it in the man’s face, he said.Part of the paper got into the worker’s eye. He did not seek medical attention. An investigation is pending.
