Police briefs 02/26/01

Police are searching for a man and woman who stole 13 gallons of gasoline Friday from the Automotive Services pumps at Spartan Stadium.The duo pulled up to the pumps with a university vehicle at about 4:30 p.m. and used that vehicle’s authorization card to access the gas, MSU police Lt. Kelly Beck said.But instead of putting gas into the university vehicle, the two filled the tank of a red sports car parked directly behind it. The two left the pumps before police arrived.The case in under investigation.

  • A 19-year-old male student was arrested Friday for allegedly assaulting a 20-year-old male student in Holden Hall.The suspect had raised a baseball bat at the other student in a threatening manner but did not strike him, Beck said.When police arrived at the scene, the man fled but was apprehended.He was also issued a minor in possession citation and charged with failure to comply with officers. The case has been forwarded to the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office.
  • A 19-year-old female student reported her blanket and sheets stolen from a second floor laundry room in Butterfield Hall on Saturday.The linens were stolen between 4 p.m. and 4:15 p.m., Beck said. The items are valued at $60. Police have no suspects.
  • A 57-year-old campus visitor reported his overcoat stolen from the Kellogg Center Corniche Room.The coat was taken between 11:30 p.m. Jan. 30 and 5:30 p.m. Jan. 31, Beck said. The item is valued at $300. Police have no suspects.
  • A 34-year-old male employee reported the chrome exhaust pipe tip stolen from his car.The car had been parked from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday near East McDonel Hall, Beck said. The stolen item is valued at $160. Police have no suspects.
  • A 25-year-old Spartan Village resident reported the passenger window broken out of his car and the stereo stolen.The theft occurred between 7 p.m. Thursday and 1:50 a.m. Friday, Beck said. An investigation is underway. Police have no suspects.
