Common Grounds wasnt in article

While I was excited to read about the new music venue that will be opening up in the area (“New all-ages venue for local, national bands to display talent,” SN 2/22,), I couldn’t help but feel frustrated because The Common Grounds Coffeehouse, located in the basement of Akers Hall, continues to be completely ignored by The State News.
Started in 1998 by an MSU student, Common Grounds has been an unbelievably positive outlet for students to come and see both local and national bands. Yesterday’s article not only ignored this fact, but made comments like, “The Campus Center is probably the only place on campus that has bands now,” insinuating Common Grounds doesn’t exist.
This past January, the national band Sponge along with local bands The Foolish Heads and 60 Second Crush played to 600 people in the basement of Akers - many of them students. Last semester the national band Mustard Plug played to more than 500 people. This has not only been an overwhelming success for Common Grounds, but for the university as a whole.
It’s hard to understand why the original alcohol-free venue for local and national music acts, which is actually located on campus, continually gets ignored.
