Police briefs 01/22/01

East Lansing police arrested an 18-year-old Lansing man early Sunday for carrying a loaded semi-automatic handgun.The man was found blocking traffic on Beal Street between Oak Street and West Grand River Avenue at about 3 a.m. Sunday, police said. The man refused to move out of the way of a police vehicle and another car and, after a conversation with police, officers found the man concealing the handgun.Police arrested the man on charges of carrying a concealed weapon. He was being held in the East Lansing jail.

  • An 18-year-old male student was arrested at about 3 a.m. Sunday after he walked naked through the West Holden lobby.A night receptionist saw the student and notified police, MSU police Sgt. Scott Beckner said.The student had been drinking and was also cited as a minor in possession.
  • An exit sign was reported stolen Friday from the West Holden Hall basement, Beckner said. A ceiling tile above the sign was also damaged.The sign is valued at $200. Damage is estimated at $200.Police have no suspects.
  • A 20-year-old male student reported his digital audio player stolen during winter break from his West McDonel Hall room.The student said the audio player was taken between Dec. 14 and Jan. 8, Beckner said. The device is valued at $229.Police have no suspects.
