Andre Hutsons playing status for MSUs Jan. 21 game against Ohio State is uncertain after the senior forward was hospitalized after Saturdays win over Wisconsin.
Hutson, who scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds in 38 minutes of play Saturday, was treated at a nearby hospital after the win for dehydration and what could lead to pneumonia.
Andre was not good after the game, head coach Tom Izzo said. He was dehydrated almost from his neck down. All his muscles got really tight.
Izzo said doctors at the hospital verified that Hutson was in poor condition.
When we got him to the hospital and the doctors ran some tests, they said his breathing was not very good and thats when they started looking into the pneumonia situation, Izzo said. One doctor said he was breathing at about 70 percent so that was what he was playing at.
Izzo said hes uncertain if Hutson will be able to play in MSUs next game against Ohio State on Jan. 21 at Breslin Student Events Center.
What is going to happen with that? I have no clue, Izzo said. I have heard anything from a week to two weeks. Ive heard that probably Wednesday or Thursday we will hear a lot more.
Hutson was released from the hospital Sunday and was resting Monday at home.
Izzo didnt know who would replace Hutson if hes unable to play Jan. 21.
