Roundabouts, circles different

Does everyone in the MSU community know the difference between a traffic circle and a roundabout? They are, in fact, different. Older traffic circles are being replaced by newer roundabouts, in which there are a number of differences.

Traffic circles have two circular lanes in which traffic moves in and out to make turns. Roundabouts have only one circular lane for which to make turns, while the outside right lane is only for making an immediate right hand turn. There is a great Web site, www.round-aboutsusa.com, that drivers should look at. Maybe even the Michigan secretary of state should check it out and include it in the new driving manual.
