Police briefs 12/06/00

A 19-year-old Butterfield Hall resident was arrested for assaulting his 19-year-old male roommate, MSU police Detective Tony Willis said.The two men were involved in an argument about smoking in their room at about 4 p.m. Monday. The argument continued to escalate until one man assaulted the other. The second roommate was not injured in the attack, but the first man was arrested by police, Willis said.

  • A 20-year-old female student was assaulted by her 17-year-old nonstudent ex-boyfriend in Shaw Hall on Friday, Willis said.The two were arguing at about 10:30 p.m. when the female was pushed to the ground and had a pitcher of water poured over her, but was otherwise uninjured, she told police.The male left the scene shortly after taking several of the female’s personal belongings, valued at $180. An investigation is underway, pending contact with the male.
  • About $500 in damages occurred to a large area of fence near the Forest Akers West Golf Course between 4 p.m. Sunday and 2 a.m. Monday, Willis said.An MSU officer on patrol near the corner of Forest and Collins roads noticed a large section of the golf course’s fence appeared to have been struck and run over by an unknown vehicle, he said.The car left the scene and the suspect is unknown.
