Bill would lower Michigans crime

I’m writing about the editorial on concealed weapons (“Off the mark,” SN 11/30). The new concealed carry laws that are debated would help Michigan. The facts, according to an unbiased source in Professor John Lott of the University of Chicago, are that states that have more lax conceal carry laws have less crime. Comparing Texas to Michigan, it makes perfect sense. “Gun-infested” Texas has had a lower murder rate than Michigan the last five years. It must be doing something right, and with the new laws in Michigan, guns are still banned in schools, churches, places that serve alcohol and day care centers.

Let’s quit taking freedoms away from law abiding citizens and concentrate on those that have committed a crime instead of those that haven’t. Last I checked, people were innocent until proven guilty.
