Greeks elect executive council

November 22, 2000

The newly-elected greek council held its first joint meeting Monday where they began planning their priorities for the upcoming year.

The greek system elected their executive council Nov. 15 which will lead them through 2001.

Billy Molasso, assistant director of student life and greek adviser, said he’s excited to begin working with the new council.

“I think this executive committee is young, full of good ideas and has the energy to implement quality services for the greek system,” Molasso said. “Now that (the greek system) is moving in the right direction, we can begin creating programs that represent other values of greek life that are important to us like leadership, academic development and service projects for the community.”

The elected greek representatives will be initiated into their new positions Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. in Room 328 of Student Services and will take office in January.

The Panhellenic Council’s new President is Kristy Tippen, Vice President for Administration is Jennifer Nichols, Vice Presidents for Internal and External Relations are Rachel Kuchar and Nina Rosenblum, Vice President for Finance is Kelly Kopf, Vice Presidents for Internal and External Recruitment are Aubrey Zoli and Courtney Nudleman and the Vice President for Programming is Lisa Levandowski.

Tippen said she’s fired up to begin planning for the new year.

“I’m excited, I have a lot of great ideas, and I’m ready to get to work with the new council to begin the year,” the psychology junior said. “We’re looking forward to improving recruitment numbers, expanding advertising and involving the campus and community into more of our events.”

The Interfraternity Council’s new president is Josh Tudor, Vice President for Administration is Justin Celko, Vice Presidents for Internal and External Relations are Faris Arabo and Andy Romanosky, Vice President for Finance is Tim Kirby, Vice President for Membership is John Owen, and Vice President for Recruitment is Alex Petersmarck.

Tudor said Monday’s meeting was a chance for all the newly elected officials to get to know each other, and he stressed the importance of keeping in touch with the current council to maintain continuity.

“I’m very pleased with everyone who was elected to the council,” the political theory and constitutional democracy senior said. “I think our board will work extremely well for the greek system next year.”

The committee will embark on a leadership retreat January 4 to 6, 2001, in Leslie, Mich. to plot out their agenda for the new year.
