Vice president is best candidate

When Americans choose their president on Nov. 7, we will elect a leader for the entire world whose decisions can affect billions of people in every nation of the globe. The unfortunate unrest in the Middle East reminds us that our vote has significant repercussions worldwide, and it is a responsibility we must take seriously.

The choices are clear. Texas Gov. George W. Bush’s inexperienced and uninformed platform of isolationist foreign policy weakens the role that America must play in the world today and foolishly passes on the great opportunity that our nation has today.

Vice President Al Gore recognizes the mutually beneficial relationship that results in our support and protection of allied nations. Bush finds it too easy to scare voters by pointing his finger at the vice president and harping on “overdeployment.” Yet Bush fails to see the important and meaningful successes achieved - the current administration’s policies have led our world to become more peaceful, stable and democratic.

Foreign policy is an extremely important issue which America cannot afford to risk at the hands of foolish inexperience. At a time when we must address our differences and create a safer world for all countries, there is no place for Bush’s isolationism and irresponsibility. We must appreciate the opportunities we have to make a significant difference for countries and people across the globe. I urge you to join me in supporting Gore.
