Woman wrestler deserves kudos

September 27, 2000

In most professions, clotheslining, slamming and tossing fellow employees to the ground will get you fired. In the World Wrestling Federation it’s common practice.

At 6 feet, 200 pounds, one of the WWF’s lightest wrestlers has given face to a new age in sports entertainment - one with a little rouge and lipstick.

Don’t be fooled though - Chyna, aka Joanie Laurer, can bench press over 320 pounds, deadlift in the mid-400 range and toss even the heftiest behemoths over the top ropes.

Ouch.

Did I mention that she has a boxing license?

In a male-dominated industry, she has body slammed a 400-pound Simoan named Rikishi, drop-kicked the Big Show - all 7-foot-2, 500 pounds of him, and become the first-ever woman to compete in both the Royal Rumble and the King of the Ring Tournament.

She’s big, she’s bad and she’s not afraid to “lay the smack down” to anyone in her way.

So when the three-time intercontinental champion did a photo shoot for Playboy Magazine, which hit newsstands Monday, it should be no surprise to anyone that she is truly in a class of her own.

Rail-thin models better watch out, muscles are in vogue and she’s got plenty to go along with her treetrunk-sized legs.

When she enters the ring for her matches her theme music blasts, “don’t treat me like a woman, don’t treat me like a man
